Woman, 94, found in casino parking lot
A woman was arrested on charges of elderly neglect and exploitation Monday after a 94-year-old woman was found in a Coconut Creek parking lot.
At around 6:45 p.m. Sunday, several Coconut Creek Casino customers told police they saw an elderly woman inside a car in the parking lot. The car was turned off and the windows were partially opened.
Police did not say how long the woman had been in the car, however one witness said she thought she saw the woman at 5 p.m. in the car, but didn't think anything of it. The woman was taken to the hospital.
Police arrested the woman's caregiver, Maria L Holly, 53, on charges of elderly neglect, exploitation and an out of county hold for grand theft. She is accused of leaving the woman alone in a hot car while she went to try her luck inside the casino.
While appearing before a judge Monday, Holly passed out for a few moments but eventually came to.
